Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s corporate headquarters is located in Omaha, Nebraska.
The company’s Omaha identity is closely linked with Warren Buffett, who became its chairman and chief executive after acquiring shares and taking control in the 1960s. Berkshire Hathaway operates as a holding company with businesses in insurance, railroads, utilities, manufacturing, retail, and other sectors. Its headquarters is notably small compared with the scale of the companies it owns.
The annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholders’ meeting is also held in Omaha and attracts thousands of investors, earning the event the nickname “Woodstock for Capitalists.” A frequent mix-up is Lincoln, Nebraska’s capital city, but Berkshire Hathaway’s corporate home is Omaha, the state’s largest city.
