In which Stuttgart district is the Porsche Taycan produced?

The Porsche Taycan is produced in Zuffenhausen, a district of Stuttgart, Germany.

Porsche created a dedicated Taycan production facility at its historic main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen when the electric model entered production in 2019. The site handles the Taycan’s body and powertrain variants, linking Porsche’s first series-production electric car to the company’s traditional sports-car manufacturing centre.

The Taycan began as the Mission E concept, revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Porsche presented the production car four years later, and the first deliveries followed in 2019. It uses the Volkswagen Group’s J1 electric platform, shared with the closely related Audi e-tron GT, although the two models have distinct designs and brand identities.

The alternatives are other important German automotive locations: Ingolstadt is associated with Audi, Sindelfingen with Mercedes-Benz, and Untertürkheim with Mercedes-Benz powertrain production. None is the Taycan’s main production district. Zuffenhausen is also strongly associated with Porsche’s 911 and 718 model lines.
