The drag coefficient, written Cd, describes how much aerodynamic resistance a vehicle creates as it moves through air. A lower number generally means the body cuts through the air more efficiently, which can reduce the energy needed to maintain speed. That matters particularly for an electric car because aerodynamic losses become increasingly important at highway speeds.

BYD’s Seal uses a low, smooth fastback-sedan shape, flush door handles and carefully managed surface detailing to achieve the claimed 0.219 Cd figure. The company presents this as one part of the car’s efficiency story alongside its e-Platform 3.0 architecture and Blade Battery technology. The figure applies to the Seal specification described by BYD; equipment, wheels and testing procedures can affect real-world aerodynamic performance.

The number is sometimes confused with a vehicle’s energy-consumption rating or driving range. It is neither: Cd is a dimensionless aerodynamic measurement, not a distance figure.
