BrewDog was founded in Fraserburgh, a Scottish town, before its founders appeared on Dragon's Den.
James Watt and Martin Dickie established BrewDog in 2007 in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. The location placed the early brewery in the north-east of Scotland, away from the larger urban centres usually associated with British brewing.
The company’s early beers helped build its reputation for bold flavours and high alcohol strengths. Watt and Dickie later appeared on Dragon's Den in 2009, but the televised pitch did not produce an investment deal.
Fraserburgh is sometimes confused with Aberdeen because both are in Aberdeenshire. Aberdeen is the county’s major city, while Fraserburgh is the coastal town where BrewDog began. The brewery later moved production to a larger site in nearby Ellon as the business expanded.
