Pokémon Pokopia’s story begins in Kanto after humans have left Earth. The game portrays the region as abandoned and unsuitable for Pokémon until Ditto starts rebuilding its habitats.
The human evacuation is connected to a series of unexplained environmental phenomena that gradually made the landscape hostile to life. Humanity moved into outer space and left Pokémon behind in a large computer system.
That premise gives Pokopia its post-apocalyptic setting while keeping the tone focused on restoration rather than destruction. The player’s work involves creating living environments, helping Pokémon recover, and uncovering records left by humans.
Although Kanto is familiar from the earliest Pokémon games, Pokopia does not present it as a standard badge-collecting journey. Its story uses the region as a world to repair and reinhabit.
