International Business Machines Corporation, better known as IBM, is headquartered in Armonk, New York.
IBM’s headquarters are in the hamlet of Armonk, within the town of North Castle in Westchester County. IBM moved its headquarters there in 1964, and the site became known as IBM’s corporate center as the company grew into a major provider of computers, software, and services.
IBM traces its corporate history to the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company, formed in 1911. The company adopted the name International Business Machines in 1924. Its early business included tabulating equipment, while later eras brought mainframe computers, personal computers, consulting, cloud services, and artificial intelligence.
New York City is a common mix-up because IBM has maintained offices there and the headquarters is in the wider New York metropolitan area. The corporate headquarters are specifically in Armonk, not within New York City.
