In which Moroccan city is the Jardin Majorelle located?

The story behind the answer

In which Moroccan city is the Jardin Majorelle located? The Jardin Majorelle is located in Marrakech, Morocco.

The garden was created by French Orientalist painter Jacques Majorelle, who began developing the property after settling in Marrakech. Work started in the 1920s and continued for decades, producing a botanical landscape filled with palms, cacti, bamboo, fountains and vivid cobalt-blue architecture. That distinctive shade is known as Majorelle blue.

Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé discovered the garden during a 1966 visit to Marrakech and purchased it in 1980, helping restore it after years of neglect. Saint Laurent’s ashes were later scattered there, and the nearby Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech opened in 2017.

Marrakech is sometimes confused with Casablanca or Fes because all three are major Moroccan destinations. The garden is specifically in the Gueliz district of Marrakech, outside the historic medina, and remains one of the city’s best-known cultural attractions.
