The Masters Tournament is traditionally played in April.
The event is scheduled for the first full week of April at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. It is the first of professional golf’s four men’s major championships each year, and its spring timing is closely associated with Augusta’s flowering azaleas, fast greens, and famous “April” atmosphere.
The tournament was first held in 1934 as the Augusta National Invitation Tournament. It was officially renamed the Masters Tournament in 1939. Unlike the U.S. Open, Open Championship, and PGA Championship, the Masters remains at one venue: Augusta National.
April is the canonical answer for the traditional schedule, although the 2020 edition was an exceptional case. Because the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the golf calendar, that Masters was postponed and played in November instead. That one-off change does not alter April as the standard answer.
