Ford Motor Company's world headquarters is located in Dearborn, Michigan.
Dearborn has been central to Ford's history since the company was founded by Henry Ford in 1903. The city is adjacent to Detroit and became the location of major Ford facilities, including the Rouge complex, one of the most important industrial sites in the history of American automobile manufacturing.
Detroit is frequently given as Ford's headquarters city because it is the region's best-known automotive center. Ford's world headquarters, however, is in Dearborn. The distinction matters because the Detroit metropolitan area includes several separate municipalities with different corporate and industrial sites.
Ford also maintains plants, design studios, offices, and subsidiaries around the world. Its Dearborn headquarters is the corporate center, while vehicle production is distributed across North America and international markets.
