In which historical city is Assassin's Creed Revelations primarily set?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Revelations is primarily set in Constantinople.

The game follows Ezio Auditore after the events of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. He travels to Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, to seek Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's five Masyaf keys and uncover the secrets they protect. The city is divided into districts associated with different communities and political powers.

The story takes place in the early sixteenth century, during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II. Historical figures such as Suleiman, later known as Suleiman the Magnificent, also appear in the narrative. Cappadocia provides an additional major location outside the city.

Modern references often call the same city Istanbul, but the game and its historical setting use Constantinople. That distinction matters because the title depicts the city before its official modern naming convention became standard in international usage.
