In which English village did the Brontës live?

The story behind the answer

The Brontës lived in the English village of Haworth. In 1820, the Reverend Patrick Brontë moved there with his family after becoming perpetual curate of St Michael and All Angels' Church. The family home, the Haworth Parsonage, stood beside the church and overlooked the churchyard and the moors.

Haworth became closely associated with Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë because it was where they grew up, wrote, and developed the imaginative worlds behind their novels. Charlotte wrote Jane Eyre, Emily wrote Wuthering Heights, and Anne wrote The Tenant of Wildfell Hall while connected with the area.

A common mix-up is Thornton, where several of the children were born and where the family lived before moving to Haworth. Bradford and Keighley are nearby Yorkshire places, but neither was the Brontë family's principal home. Haworth is now a major literary destination, and the former parsonage houses the Brontë Parsonage Museum.
