In which Danish town is the LEGO Group's headquarters located?

The story behind the answer

The LEGO Group's headquarters is located in Billund, Denmark.

Billund is the small Danish town where Ole Kirk Christiansen founded the company in 1932. The name LEGO comes from the Danish phrase “leg godt,” meaning “play well.” The company began by making wooden toys before introducing the modern plastic LEGO brick in the mid-20th century.

Billund is more than a corporate address: it is the center of the LEGO Group's heritage and a major visitor destination. LEGOLAND Billund Resort opened there in 1968, although it is operated separately from the LEGO Group today. The LEGO House experience center also stands in Billund.

Copenhagen is Denmark's capital and is therefore sometimes assumed to be the headquarters location. The LEGO Group, however, remains headquartered in Billund, in the Region of Southern Denmark. Its worldwide offices and factories support a brand that began in this comparatively small town.
