Rally New Zealand is held in New Zealand. The event is one of the World Rally Championship’s classic gravel rallies and has traditionally used fast, flowing roads on the North Island, especially around the Auckland and Waikato regions.

The rally first appeared in 1969 and became part of the WRC in 1977, although it was absent from the championship calendar in some seasons. Its roads are famous for smooth, compact gravel, dramatic crests, and corners that can remain deceptively fast even in changeable weather.

A common mix-up is confusing Rally New Zealand with Rally Australia, another South Pacific WRC event that also uses gravel roads. They are separate rallies in separate countries.
