Most of Assassin’s Creed Origins is set in Egypt.
The game takes place during the first century BCE, when Egypt is ruled by the Ptolemaic dynasty. Its protagonist, Bayek of Siwa, is a Medjay who becomes involved in the origins of the Hidden Ones, the group that later develops into the Assassin Brotherhood.
Players travel through locations including Siwa, Alexandria, Memphis, and the Giza plateau. The setting combines historical cities, deserts, tombs, and the Nile Valley, making ancient Egypt central to both the story and exploration.
Origins also serves as a foundation story for the wider Assassin mythology. Although the game includes areas outside Egypt, such as parts of the Sinai and Mediterranean world, Egypt is its primary country and setting.
