Lamborghini's headquarters are located in Italy. More precisely, Automobili Lamborghini is based in Sant'Agata Bolognese, a town in the Emilia-Romagna region near Bologna.
Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the company there in 1963, after building a successful tractor business and deciding to challenge established sports-car makers. The Sant'Agata facility became both the company's administrative center and its principal production site.
Italy is sometimes confused with nearby European countries because Lamborghini sells cars worldwide and is owned by Audi, part of Germany's Volkswagen Group. Ownership, however, does not change the company's Italian headquarters or manufacturing identity. Lamborghini remains one of Italy's best-known luxury automobile brands, alongside Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo.
