In which city is the Eiffel Tower located?
Answer
Paris
Answer
Paris
The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France.
The tower stands on the Champ de Mars in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, near the Seine. It was designed by engineers Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier, with architectural refinements by Stephen Sauvestre, and built by Gustave Eiffel’s company between 1887 and 1889.
The structure was created as the centrepiece of the 1889 Exposition Universelle, a world’s fair marking the centennial of the French Revolution. At 300 metres tall when completed, it became the world’s tallest human-made structure, surpassing the Washington Monument. An antenna added in 2022 brought its current height to 330 metres.
Many Parisians and French artists initially criticized its appearance, but the wrought-iron lattice tower eventually became one of the world’s best-known landmarks and a symbol of France. It is sometimes called La Dame de Fer, or “Iron Lady.” The Eiffel Tower became a French historic monument in 1964 and part of the UNESCO World Heritage site “Paris, Banks of the Seine” in 1991.
