Most of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is set in Rome.
The 2010 game continues Ezio Auditore's story after Assassin's Creed II. Ezio travels to Rome to oppose the Borgia family, whose political and military power dominates the city and threatens the local Assassin network.
Rome serves as a large, connected open-world environment containing historic districts, monuments, shops, and Borgia-controlled areas. Players can recruit and train new Assassins, then call on them during missions.
The title is sometimes mistaken for a game set in Venice because Venice is a major location in Assassin's Creed II. Brotherhood does include a brief modern-day sequence in Monteriggioni and other locations, but Renaissance Rome is its principal historical setting.
