In which city is Balenciaga's headquarters located?
Answer
Paris
Answer
Paris
Balenciaga’s headquarters is located in Paris, France.
The company is French-based today, although its origins are Spanish. Cristóbal Balenciaga opened his first boutique in San Sebastián in 1917 and later expanded to Madrid and Barcelona. After the Spanish Civil War, he moved to Paris and opened his couture house on Avenue George V in August 1937.
Paris became central to Balenciaga’s identity and international reputation. The city was the leading center of haute couture, and the Paris house established the designer among the most influential couturiers of the twentieth century. The brand remains headquartered in Paris under the ownership of the French luxury group Kering.
The main confusion is between the brand’s historical birthplace and its present headquarters. San Sebastián is where the house began; Paris is where its headquarters are located.
