In which city is Assassin's Creed Revelations mainly set?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Revelations is mainly set in Constantinople.

The game follows Ezio Auditore as he travels to Constantinople in the early sixteenth century to search for keys connected to Altaïr's legacy. The city is divided into districts influenced by Byzantine, Ottoman, and other cultural communities, reflecting its position between Europe and Asia.

Constantinople was the capital of the Ottoman Empire during the game's period. Historical figures including Sultan Bayezid II's son Suleiman appear in the story, while Ezio works with local Assassins and becomes involved in a succession struggle within the Ottoman royal family.

Revelations also returns to Altaïr through memory sequences set in Masyaf and other locations. The city name can create a historical terminology mix-up: Constantinople was officially renamed Istanbul in the twentieth century, but Constantinople is the period-appropriate name used for the game's sixteenth-century setting. The game was released in 2011.
