In which California city is Google's headquarters, the Googleplex, located?

The story behind the answer

Google's headquarters, known as the Googleplex, is located in Mountain View, California.

The Googleplex is in Silicon Valley near the southern end of San Francisco Bay. Google began occupying the site in 2003, and the campus became the company's principal headquarters as its search, advertising, and technology businesses expanded.

Google's parent company, Alphabet Inc., was created in 2015. Alphabet and Google share the Mountain View headquarters location, although Google is the operating company most commonly associated with the Googleplex name.

People sometimes answer Palo Alto because Google was founded there in a garage associated with Susan Wojcicki's former home. That origin story differs from the location of the company's current headquarters in Mountain View.
