In which Belfast suburb was C.S. Lewis born?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis was born in the Belfast suburb of Strandtown.

Lewis entered the world on 29 November 1898 at 47 Dundela Avenue in Strandtown, an area in east Belfast. The house was later known as Little Lea, and the location is associated with his early childhood and family life. His older brother, Warren, was born in 1895, and the two boys developed a close relationship that continued throughout their lives.

The Lewis family’s Belfast setting is sometimes overlooked because Lewis became closely associated with English universities and with Oxford. Strandtown is nevertheless an important part of his biography. Belfast’s landscapes, family memories, and the imaginative private world he shared with Warren all belong to the background of the author who later created Narnia and wrote major works of Christian apologetics.
