In which BBC channel's schedule did the British series Dragon's Den originally launch?

The story behind the answer

The British series Dragon's Den originally launched in BBC Two's schedule.

The programme first aired in 2005 as part of the BBC's factual and entertainment programming. Its format combines business advice, negotiation and reality television: entrepreneurs explain their ventures while investors decide whether the opportunity merits an offer.

BBC Two has historically carried substantial factual, documentary and specialist programming, making it a natural home for a show centred on commercial ideas and business discussion. Dragon's Den later became a major BBC brand, but its original channel is an important part of the programme's broadcast history.

The channel is sometimes confused with BBC One because the series became widely known across the United Kingdom. BBC Three and BBC Four are also BBC channels, but neither was the original home of the British Dragon's Den series. International adaptations use their own broadcasters and should not be used to identify the channel of the British edition.
