In which African country is the Safari Rally held?

The Safari Rally is held in Kenya.

The event began in 1953 as the East African Coronation Safari, celebrating the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Although the original route passed through Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika, the modern Safari Rally is a Kenyan event, traditionally centred in the Great Rift Valley and around Naivasha.

It became part of the World Rally Championship in 1973 and developed a reputation as one of the sport's toughest rounds. Long distances, deep mud, dust, rocks, rough tracks and rapidly changing weather historically made reliability as important as outright speed. The event was removed from the WRC calendar after 2002, then returned in 2021 following an eighteen-year absence.

The answer is sometimes confused with Tanzania because the rally's earliest name referred to East Africa and its first route crossed territories that included Tanganyika. Tanganyika later became part of Tanzania, but the current WRC Safari Rally is held in Kenya.
