In which 2005 episode did Rose Tyler first appear?

The story behind the answer

Rose Tyler first appeared in the 2005 Doctor Who episode “Rose.” The episode introduced Billie Piper as the modern series’ first regular companion and brought the programme back to weekly television after its long absence.

“Rose” was written by Russell T Davies and first broadcast on BBC One on 26 March 2005. It follows Rose Tyler, a London shop assistant who becomes caught up in an Auton attack and meets Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor. After helping stop the Nestene Consciousness, Rose accepts the Doctor’s invitation to travel with him in the TARDIS.

The episode also introduced important parts of Rose’s world, including her mother Jackie Tyler, played by Camille Coduri, and her boyfriend Mickey Smith, played by Noel Clarke. Giving Rose a family, job and ordinary life helped new viewers enter Doctor Who through a relatable human character.

The Parting of the Ways was the 2005 series finale, “Dalek” was an early standalone adventure, and “The End of the World” was the next episode. None of those episodes marked Rose Tyler’s first appearance.
