In what year was the Lamborghini Diablo introduced?

The story behind the answer

The Lamborghini Diablo was introduced in 1990.

Lamborghini presented the Diablo as the successor to the Countach, and the model went on sale in 1990. It was a mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive supercar powered initially by a 5.7-liter V12, with a claimed top speed of about 325 km/h.

The project began in 1985 under the internal name Project 132. Marcello Gandini created the original design, but after Chrysler acquired Lamborghini in 1987, Chrysler’s styling team substantially revised the shape before production. The final car retained the dramatic wedge profile and scissor doors associated with Lamborghini.

The Diablo remained in production until 2001, receiving numerous variants. The all-wheel-drive Diablo VT arrived in 1993, the Diablo SV followed in 1995, and a roadster version appeared later that year. Its 1990 debut therefore predates the VT and the open-top versions often mentioned in Diablo histories.
