Thorne's ideas influenced the film's treatment of wormholes, black holes, relativity, and time dilation.
Interstellar starred Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine. It was nominated for five Academy Awards at the 87th ceremony and won Best Visual Effects. Its large-format photography and practical effects also became important parts of its identity.
