Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was released worldwide in 2008.
The game launched for PlayStation 3, beginning with Japan and North America in June 2008 and reaching Europe and other regions shortly afterward. It was directed by Hideo Kojima and presented as the concluding chapter of Solid Snake’s main story.
Set in a future dominated by private military companies and a global system called the Sons of the Patriots, the game follows an aging Solid Snake on a final mission. Its setting takes Snake to several international locations, including the Middle East, South America, and Eastern Europe. The subtitle Guns of the Patriots refers to both the game’s military world and its central conflict over control of soldiers and weapons.
