In what year was Lamborghini founded?

The story behind the answer

In what year was Lamborghini founded? Lamborghini was founded in 1963.

Ferruccio Lamborghini established Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1963 in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. He was already a successful industrialist whose businesses produced tractors and other machinery. His goal was to build refined grand touring cars that could compete with established manufacturers such as Ferrari.

The company was founded on 7 May 1963, and Lamborghini's first production model, the 350 GT, arrived in the mid-1960s. The earlier 350 GTV was a prototype, while the 350 GT became the company's first series-production automobile. Lamborghini quickly gained attention for combining powerful engines with luxurious interiors and distinctive Italian design.

The celebrated Miura followed in 1966 and established Lamborghini as a major force in high-performance cars. A common mix-up is confusing the company's founding year with the debut dates of its famous models: the Miura arrived in 1966, the Countach in the 1970s, and the Aventador in 2011. Lamborghini is now owned by Volkswagen Group through Audi.
