Victoria’s Secret held its first fashion show in New York City in 1995.
The inaugural show took place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. It was a relatively small presentation compared with the elaborate televised productions that later became associated with the brand. Models including Stephanie Seymour appeared in the early event.
The show developed into an annual media production, eventually adding celebrity performers, themed segments, and the Fantasy Bra tradition. Its scale and visibility grew substantially after the event began receiving television exposure in 2001.
This date is sometimes confused with 1996, when Victoria’s Secret held another early show, or with 1997, when the company’s Angel branding became more prominent. The first show itself was in 1995.
