In what year did the Monster Jam series begin?
Answer
1992
Answer
1992
The Monster Jam series began in 1992.
Monster Jam grew out of the organized monster-truck events promoted under the United States Hot Rod Association, or USHRA. Its shows combined racing with the spectacle of oversized trucks crushing cars, helping turn monster-truck exhibitions into a recognizable touring entertainment series.
The series is not the same thing as the entire history of monster-truck competition. Trucks such as Bigfoot, USA-1, and Bear Foot were already attracting crowds during the late 1970s and 1980s. TNT Motorsports created an early recognized championship series in 1988, while USHRA events developed their own championships and formats.
Monster Jam later became associated with Feld Entertainment and expanded internationally. Modern events typically feature racing, two-wheel skills contests, and freestyle, where drivers earn scores for jumps, wheelies, saves, and other maneuvers. A common mix-up is treating 1992 as the birth of monster trucks themselves; it marks the beginning of the Monster Jam series, not the invention of the sport.
