The British television show Dragon's Den first aired on the BBC in 2005.
The programme premiered on BBC Two on 4 January 2005. It adapted the international business-pitch format in which entrepreneurs present investment proposals to wealthy businesspeople, known in the British version as the Dragons.
The British series followed earlier versions of the format, including Japan's Money Tigers and the Canadian and American adaptations. Its central feature is the negotiation: entrepreneurs state how much money they want and what share of their company they will offer.
The launch year is sometimes confused with the year the format arrived in another country. Dragon's Den is a long-running British series, while Dragons' Den is also the title used by versions in other territories. The BBC programme has remained associated with BBC Two even as its cast and presenters changed.
