In what year did Ford Motor Company introduce the Model A, its first car after the Model T?

The story behind the answer

Ford Motor Company introduced the Model A in 1927 as its first new automobile after the Model T. The Model A replaced the Model T when Ford ended production of its long-running predecessor.

The Model T had dominated Ford’s business for nearly two decades, but by the 1920s its design was increasingly dated. Customers wanted features such as improved comfort, more body styles, and modern styling. Ford halted Model T production in May 1927 and introduced the Model A later that year.

The new car used a four-cylinder engine and was offered in numerous body styles, including sedans, coupes, pickups, and roadsters. It was available in several colors, unlike the later years of the Model T, when black was strongly associated with Ford production.

The 1927 Model A should not be confused with the earlier Ford Model A, which was the company’s first car produced in 1903.
