In what year did BBC’s Dragons’ Den first air?

The story behind the answer

BBC’s Dragons’ Den first aired in 2005.

The British version launched on BBC Two as an adaptation of an international business-investment format. Entrepreneurs enter the den to present their companies to a panel of wealthy investors, known as Dragons, and seek funding in return for equity.

The original British line-up included Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Doug Richard. Evan Davis presented the programme from its beginning and became closely associated with its interview style and business explanations.

The series has continued through numerous changes to its panel and production arrangements. Its title is sometimes written incorrectly as “Dragon’s Den,” but the BBC programme’s official title is “Dragons’ Den,” referring to the group of investors.
