In what type of vehicle is the family riding in the movie "RV"?

The story behind the answer

In the movie "RV," the family travels in a recreational vehicle, commonly called an RV or motorhome.

The 2006 road comedy follows Bob Munro and his family after their planned Hawaiian vacation is canceled. Bob secretly rents a large RV so they can travel from Los Angeles toward the Colorado Rockies while he attempts to handle a business obligation in Boulder. His lack of experience driving and maintaining the vehicle causes many of the film’s comic disasters.

An RV is designed for travel and temporary living, combining transportation with features such as sleeping areas, cooking facilities, seating, and a bathroom. The film plays heavily on that dual purpose, especially when the Munros struggle with the vehicle’s toilet, parking brake, and rough terrain.

The title is therefore both a literal description of the family’s transport and a shorthand for the motorhome at the center of the story. The film was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Robin Williams.
