In what California city is RMS Queen Mary permanently moored as a hotel and attraction?

The story behind the answer

RMS Queen Mary is permanently moored as a hotel and attraction in Long Beach, California.

The former Cunard ocean liner arrived in Long Beach in December 1967 after completing her final voyage. Instead of being scrapped, she was converted into a hotel, museum, and visitor attraction at a waterfront site near the Port of Long Beach.

RMS Queen Mary entered service in 1936 and operated as a passenger liner on the North Atlantic. During World War II, she was converted into a troopship and carried Allied personnel. After the war, she returned to passenger service before being retired in 1967.

The ship is sometimes confused with RMS Queen Elizabeth, her later Cunard fleet mate. Queen Mary is the vessel preserved in California; Queen Elizabeth was ultimately scrapped in Hong Kong in 1972. Long Beach also gave the historic liner a permanent land-based role rather than returning her to ocean service.
