James Bond drives a BMW 750iL through a parking garage by remote control in Tomorrow Never Dies.
The 1997 film gives Bond a dark BMW 750iL equipped with weapons, armor and a remote-driving system. During the escape from a multi-storey car park, Bond controls the damaged sedan from the back seat using a mobile phone, steering it while sitting away from the driver’s position. The sequence turns a large executive saloon into an unexpectedly agile action vehicle.
The 750iL was the long-wheelbase version of BMW’s 7 Series luxury sedan. In the film, the car is presented as a heavily modified Q-Branch vehicle rather than an ordinary showroom specification. Its remote-control technology is fictionalized for the action sequence.
This car is often mixed up with the BMW Z8 in The World Is Not Enough and the BMW Z3 in GoldenEye. The parking-garage chase specifically features the four-door 750iL.
