In Tolkien’s legendarium, who is Arwen’s father?

In J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, Elrond is Arwen’s father.

Elrond is a Half-elven lord who rules Rivendell, also called Imladris. He is the son of Eärendil and Elwing and the twin brother of Elros, who became the first king of Númenor. Elrond chose the fate of the Elves, while Elros chose mortality.

Arwen is Elrond’s daughter and is known as Arwen Undómiel, or Evenstar. In The Lord of the Rings, her love for Aragorn is connected to the earlier tale of Beren and Lúthien, another relationship between a mortal man and an immortal Elf.

Elrond’s family relationships can be confusing because Tolkien’s genealogy stretches across several ages. Celeborn is Arwen’s maternal grandfather, while Galadriel is her maternal grandmother. Thranduil is a separate Elven king associated with the Woodland Realm.
