The BMW Z8 is equipped with rockets and a self-destruct system in The World Is Not Enough.
Bond receives the silver BMW Z8 from Q during the 1999 film. Its fictional equipment includes a remote-control function, surface-to-air rockets, titanium armor and a self-destruct mechanism. The car is ultimately cut in half by a giant saw mounted on a helicopter, ending its brief but memorable appearance.
The Z8 was a real BMW roadster introduced for the 2000 model year, although the film appeared before regular production began. BMW built the production car with styling inspired by the BMW 507, a classic 1950s roadster. The Bond version therefore combined a modern launch with deliberate retro design cues.
The Z8 is sometimes confused with the BMW Z3 from GoldenEye or the BMW 750iL from Tomorrow Never Dies. Those cars belong to different Pierce Brosnan-era films and have different fictional equipment.
