Dragon Rachel Elnaugh founded the gift-experience company Red Letter Days.
Red Letter Days was established in 1989 and sold vouchers for memorable experiences rather than conventional physical presents. Customers could purchase activities such as driving experiences, flights and leisure events as gifts, with the recipient choosing when to use the voucher.
Rachel Elnaugh built the company into a prominent British experience-gifting business and became one of the original Dragons on the UK version of Dragon's Den. The company later encountered serious financial difficulties and went into administration in 2005. It was subsequently acquired by another business.
Red Letter Days is often confused with Virgin Experience Days or Buyagift because all operate in the experience-gift market. They are distinct brands. The name refers to the idea of a special or memorable day, not to a particular type of printed greeting card.
