Shaun Pulfrey created the Tangle Teezer detangling hairbrush after presenting the idea on Dragons' Den.
Pulfrey, a hair colourist, developed a brush designed to remove knots without pulling hair in the same way as conventional brushes. He appeared on the programme in 2007, but the Dragons did not invest in his business.
Despite that rejection, Tangle Teezer grew through product development, retail distribution and international sales. The brush's distinctive flexible teeth became its main selling feature, and the company later expanded into several brush designs for different hair types.
The entrepreneur is sometimes confused with the show's investors, particularly Theo Paphitis because of Paphitis's retail background. Paphitis was a Dragon, whereas Shaun Pulfrey was the inventor and founder of Tangle Teezer.
