Dragon Duncan Bannatyne founded the Bannatyne Group, a business known especially for health clubs and spas.
Bannatyne began in business with ventures including an ice-cream operation before moving into care homes and leisure. He built the group around a portfolio of businesses and later developed a substantial chain of health clubs under the Bannatyne name.
The Bannatyne Group became one of the UK's recognisable fitness and wellness businesses. Its sites have included gyms, health clubs, spas and hotels, although the exact mix of services has changed over time.
The name can be confused with unrelated national gym brands such as PureGym or The Gym Group. Those businesses are not the group founded by the Dragon; the distinctive answer is Bannatyne Group.
