In the UK television show Dragons' Den, which broadcaster first aired the programme in 2005?

The story behind the answer

BBC Two first aired the UK television show Dragons' Den in 2005.

The programme premiered on 4 January 2005 and adapted the Japanese format Money Tigers. Entrepreneurs present business ideas to wealthy investors, known as the Dragons, seeking investment in return for a share of their company.

Dragons' Den became one of BBC Two's best-known factual-entertainment programmes. The first series was presented by Adrian Chiles, while Evan Davis became the long-running presenter from the second series onward.

The UK programme is part of an international franchise. Versions have been produced in countries including Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The American adaptation is called Shark Tank, rather than Dragons' Den.
