The UK television show Dragon's Den was inspired by the Japanese programme Money Tigers.
Money Tigers was a Japanese reality business programme in which entrepreneurs presented proposals to wealthy investors. The central idea—founders seeking finance from a panel by making a direct pitch—was adapted for television markets around the world.
The UK version keeps that basic structure but uses its own title, dragons, production style and investor lineup. It is therefore related to, but not the same programme as, the American series Shark Tank. Shark Tank is another adaptation of the wider format and was not the Japanese source title.
The name is often written in English as Money Tigers, while the broader format has also been described through international franchise branding. The key distinction is that Money Tigers is the originating Japanese television programme credited as the inspiration.
