The UK television series Dragons' Den premiered on BBC Two in 2005.
The programme is a British adaptation of the international Dragons' Den format, in which entrepreneurs present business proposals to wealthy investors. BBC Two was the BBC channel associated with the show's launch, before later episodes also became part of the wider BBC schedule.
The series was first broadcast on 4 January 2005. Its studio format centres on a group of investors, known as dragons, who question contestants about their products, finances and requested investment. A contestant may accept an offer, negotiate different terms or leave without a deal.
BBC Two is sometimes confused with BBC One because the programme became a major mainstream success. However, its original UK home was BBC Two, not BBC One. The format itself originated in Japan and was later adapted for many countries.
