In the UK programme Dragon's Den, who was the original presenter?

The story behind the answer

Evan Davis was the original presenter of the UK programme Dragon's Den.

Davis hosted the first British series when the show began in 2005. His role was to introduce the entrepreneurs, explain the investment proposals and provide continuity around the negotiations between founders and the investor panel. He was already known for work in business and economics broadcasting.

The presenter is separate from the “Dragons”, the programme’s name for its investors. That distinction matters because the panel has changed repeatedly while the host’s job has remained focused on guiding viewers through each pitch. Davis’s calm questioning and concise explanations became part of the early identity of the British edition.

Amanda Hamilton later presented the programme before Evan Davis returned to the role. Some viewers confuse the British host with presenters from international versions or with investors who appeared on the panel. The original British presenter, however, was Evan Davis, who launched the series alongside its first group of Dragons.
