In 'The Terminator', what is the name of John Connor's mother?

The story behind the answer

In The Terminator, John Connor’s mother is named Sarah Connor.

Sarah is the central human character of the 1984 film, played by Linda Hamilton. At the beginning, she is an ordinary Los Angeles waitress who discovers that a Terminator has been sent from the future to kill her before she can give birth to John, the future leader of the human Resistance.

Kyle Reese, a soldier from that future, travels back to protect Sarah. He explains that John sent him because Sarah’s survival is essential to the Resistance’s eventual victory. The film’s time-loop premise makes Kyle both John’s father and Sarah’s protector: after falling in love, Kyle and Sarah conceive John before Kyle dies fighting the Terminator.

Sarah’s character changes dramatically during the story. She begins frightened and confused, but surviving the attack transforms her into the determined mother seen in the film’s final scenes. The name can be confused with other famous science-fiction heroines, including Trinity from The Matrix or Ellen Ripley from Alien, but neither is John Connor’s mother. Sarah’s full name is Sarah Jeanette Connor.
