In Pixar’s short “Burrow,” a badger helps the rabbit with her underground home.
The rabbit accidentally digs into several neighbors’ underground dwellings while trying to build a burrow of her own. After she reaches the water table, flooding threatens the entire underground community. She then turns to the intimidating animal living in a dark cave.
The seemingly frightening creature is revealed to be a sleepy, good-natured badger. It roars to summon the other residents, and together they dig a side tunnel that diverts the water to the surface. The rescue both saves the neighbors’ homes and helps the embarrassed rabbit accept their assistance.
The mole and field mouse are easy alternatives to confuse with the answer because they appear earlier and offer advice about burrow-building. They are neighbors who try to help, but the badger is the animal that leads the crucial rescue effort. “Burrow” was written and directed by Madeline Sharafian and is notable for its hand-drawn-inspired 2D style.
