In the pilot for “The Vampire Diaries,” Vicki is attacked and left bleeding from a bite.
Vicki Donovan is introduced as Jeremy Gilbert’s troubled older sister and Tyler Lockwood’s girlfriend. During the pilot episode, she becomes one of the first visible victims of the vampire threat surrounding Mystic Falls. Her injuries initially appear to be an animal attack, helping the supernatural danger remain hidden from the town.
The attacker is Damon Salvatore, whose feeding leaves Vicki with unmistakable bite wounds. She survives the initial assault, but Damon later manipulates her recovery and turns her into a vampire. That transformation makes Vicki a crucial early example of how quickly the Salvatore brothers’ conflict affects ordinary residents.
The episode aired on September 10, 2009, and establishes the series’ central mystery: people in Mystic Falls are being attacked by something far more dangerous than a wild animal.
