Reptile combines Scorpion’s yellow color scheme with Sub-Zero’s green palette and uses abilities associated with both characters. His original appearance presents him as a green-clad ninja, but later games establish him as a Zaterran, a reptilian humanoid species.
Players sometimes confuse Reptile with secret characters introduced in later games, such as Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Ermac. Reptile is especially notable because he was the first hidden character in the Mortal Kombat series.
