In the original Assassin's Creed, which character is the playable Assassin sent to recover the stolen Apple of Eden?

The story behind the answer

In the original Assassin's Creed, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad is the playable Assassin sent to recover the stolen Apple of Eden.

Altaïr is a Syrian Assassin and the central historical character of the 2007 game. After breaking the Brotherhood's rules during a failed attack, he is demoted by his mentor, Al Mualim, and ordered to eliminate targets across the Holy Land. These missions gradually reveal a wider Templar conspiracy.

The game takes place mainly in 1191, during the Third Crusade, with major locations including Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus. Altaïr's name is sometimes written with different apostrophe or transliteration styles, but the character is consistently identified as Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.

Ezio, Connor, and Arno are protagonists of later games, not the original title. The Apple of Eden is one of the series' Pieces of Eden, powerful artifacts connected to the Isu civilization.
